Program Values

The following are our core values of R.O.A.R. and the breakdown of how these values are accomplished. All staff are expected to do their very best to uphold these values for our students at all times. Students are also expected to uphold these values in their actions towards one another. All students and staff must respect one another in their word, speech, and deed.

This is accomplished by:

Being honest in all that we say and do. This means that rules are firmly established, expectations are consistently upheld, and consequences are equitably merited.

Exhibiting compassion and understanding in the way we communicate. This means that active listening is the standard, everyone's differences are encouraged and celebrated, and opinions are shared and discussed equally.

Handling ourselves with professionalism and deference in every space we occupy. This means that we treat others as we would like to be treated, we assume the best about one another, and we ask for help when resolving problems.

All students must seek to further their academic pursuits beyond the classroom setting.

This is accomplished by:

Designating specific time for students to complete their homework. This includes creating a schedule based on the allotted homework for each grade, utilizing counselors and staff to assist with questions, and creating a calm and quiet environment to allow for better focus.

Coordinating with teachers and parents to build up the strengths of each student. This includes assisting tutors and music teachers in getting students for lessons, communicating needs and areas for growth with parents, and meeting with teachers to ensure the bridge from classroom to after school is successfully managed.

Incorporating exciting learning opportunities into our daily routine. This includes class wide book readings, themed trivia games, and team-based game tournaments.

All students and staff must seek to grow in wisdom, relationship, and stewardship.

This is accomplished by:

Challenging students to grow in their faith and character. This includes having honest conversations about their choices, engaging in Biblical discussion through prepared devotion curriculum, and encouraging them to pursue what God is calling them into.

Creating opportunities for friendship beyond the classroom. This includes combining age-appropriate groups into a shared space, working in teams to complete various activities, and fostering connections for students who are naturally reserved.

Teaching students to represent our program well to faculty, teachers, and visitors. This is accomplished by setting standards for appropriate behavior in and outside the classroom, learning to leave spaces better than we found them, and acting with grace and professionalism towards any and all guests.

"But the Lord said to me, 'Do not say, 'I am too young.' You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.'"

All students must engage their sense of wonder and play.

This is accomplished by:

Allotting time for physical activity. This includes outdoor play on the playground and field and indoor movement via dance or other physical games.

Utilizing sensory materials in our daily curriculum. This includes free play with kinetic sand, slime, play doh, bead foam, and modeling clay.

Making space for students to expand their creativity. This includes planned crafts, free time to color and draw, and the use of various building materials like LEGOs and Magna Tiles.

Daily Schedule

Campers participate in our programming largely in their huddles, but there are times and activities throughout the week where we combine groups and get to play together. Hover over each group to learn more about their purpose and goals.

3:00-3:15pm Snack and Connection

Upon dismissal to R.O.A.R. students are welcome to enjoy an afternoon snack and connect with friends from different classes and grades.

3:45-4:30pm Play Time

Students are able to enjoy recreation time on the playground, participating in field games, or playing in the gym. In the case of inclement weather, students can participate in indoor dancing, classroom games, and building competitions.

3:15-3:45pm Homework

After their snack, R.O.A.R. students settle into our silent homework time. They work independently with assistance by request from staff and counselors.

4:30-5:00pm Coordinated Activities

Our program operates on a monthly themed around which all of our curriculum is based. Themes are Biblical principles like Generosity and Community and are taught through weekly devotions, books and crafts, team-style games, and more!
